After my six month old HP netbook froze last night - the touchpad wouldn't respond to touch -- I searched Google and discovered that I probably needed to go to the HP website and download some new drivers.
Somehow I ended up on Driver Fetch... and $29 later I learned that 62 of my computer's drivers were either corrupted or outdated.
I have no complaints about Driver Fetch. After Ifinished all the installations, my computer was absolutely singing and responding to my touch.
But, and here is the big but, as part of the installation process I had to install the ASK JEEVES toolbar. I didn't want the ASK JEEVES toolbar. I have more toolbars than I know what to do with. But I couldn't figure out a way to install the software to fix my touchpad problem without installing ASK JEEVES.
Sidebar, tried to call Blitware, the owners of Driver Fetch to chat with their customer service folks about the ASK JEEVES situation but there was no phone number on their website. Did a Google Search and found this.
As it turns out, that's not the phone number for Blitware. It's the phone number for Viatec. The woman who answered the phone was very interested in how I got the number --seems that I'm not the only one who tried to get the phone number for Blitware by way of Google. She wanted the phone calls to stop.
I shared the keywords that I used to get to the Google page and she thanked me. Not sure how she will get that web page to change the number but at least now she knows why so many people call her when they are looking for Blitware.
Since I couldn't find a phone number for the company located in Victoria, Canada, I sent an email. Now waiting for their response.
