Elizabeth " Don't Call Me Liz" Becton's Entry Into The Email Hall Of Shame

As Jay Leno said to Hugh Grant on The Tonight Show the day after Grant was arrested for lewd conduct in a public place with a Hollywood prostitute Divine Brown, " What the hell were you thinking?"

Surely, Ms.Becton, Ms. Becton's friends, family, colleagues and employers are wondering what possessed her to send not one, not two, not three, but seven emails ranting to a guy who made the mistake of addressing her as Liz in an email instead of Elizabeth.

While the email exchange is funny in an absurd sort of way, you can't help but wonder what this humiliating attention will do to someone ,who from her emails,seems like she needs to take some mental health days.

Let me put it this way, they don't know me and perhaps they were PRETENDING to know me better than they do and pretended that I go by Liz. They did YOU a disservice.

In the future, you should be VERY careful about such things. People like to brag about their connections in DC. It's a past time for some. It's also dangerous to eaves drop, as you have just found out.

Quit apologizing and never call me anything but Elizabeth again. Also, make sure you correct anyone who attempts to call me by any other name but Elizabeth. Are we clear on this? Like I said, it's a hot button for me.

And please don't call the office and not leave a message. My colleague told me you called while I was away at the Ladies' room. I do sometimes leave my desk.

I worry about Ms.Becton.  Her obsession about being called Elizabeth has pretty much guaranteed that she will spend the rest of her life having to get prank calls and prank emails from people who  get their  jollies by calling calling her Liz.

My hope for Ms. Becton is that she gets some great counseling and a healthy dose of a sense of humor .

She's going to need it.
