Nothing like watching a mom with five kids --one an infant with special needs-- throwing in her hat for one of the most power and demanding jobs in the world -- to get people thinking about the issue of work life balance.
A couple of years ago, I read Alison Pearson's Book "I Don't Know How She Does It."
It' a story about a woman in London who was trying desperately to have it all -bake the cookies, have a fabulous career and oh yeah, have an affair with a guy on the other side of the pod.
In the end she comes to the same conclusion that many women come to after trying to balance a demanding career and motherhood.
At some point, for most of us who spend our lives balancing, fretting and stressing, something gets the Shortchange--either our jobs or our families. The truth is most of us are not superwomen and we struggle to do it all well.
That's the topic of my BlogHer post today--The Shortchange Debate.
Here's the question I'm asking today. If you had five kids --one an infant with special needs--and you got the job offer of a lifetime which wouldalso be one of the most demanding jobs in the world--would you take it?
